12 people drown from 8 incidents in Jigawa – NSCDC

Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command has said that a total of 12 deaths were recorded in 8 incidents of drowning that occurred in the state within the Month under review, among which 7 were male while 5 female.

CSC Adamu Shehu, Command’s Public Relations Officer, made this known in a statement issued, Monday.

He said from among the 7 male, 2 were underage between 15 and 10 years, while all the female were underage between 14 and 8 years respectively.

“Put together the underaged death toll stand at 7 including both male and female.”

He attributed most of incidents to swimming (leisure).

SCS Shehu explained that the report was not only aimed at showcasing the number of deaths recorded, but to equally serve as caution to both parents and the General public.
