The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas, has issued a robust response to recent statements from the NNPP, asserting that his party, rather than suffering, is poised to strengthen its position in the forthcoming electoral contests.
In a press release issued today from the APC headquarters in Abuja, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas refuted claims made by NNPP’s Kano state Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, regarding the electoral prospects of President Bola Tinubu. Abbas dismissed Dungurawa’s assertions as reflective of the NNPP’s frustration and political missteps both in Kano state and nationally.
“The NNPP’s presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, lacks the national appeal required to lead Nigeria,” Abbas declared. “His limited electoral success primarily in Kano state underscores this fact.”
Abbas highlighted that despite Kwankwaso’s efforts, particularly in his Northwest stronghold, his national appeal remains negligible. “Kwankwaso received significant support only in Kano, with minimal traction elsewhere,” Abbas noted. “This raises questions about his ability to command widespread national support.”
The APC Chairman also addressed the ongoing Emirship tussle in Kano, emphasizing that the federal government’s interest is solely to uphold the rule of law and ensure peace in the state. He criticized the NNPP-led government’s handling of the crisis, accusing it of using divisive tactics to divert attention from its governance failures.
“In Kano, Governor Abba Yusuf’s administration has faltered, with controversial policies and an inability to deliver on promises,” Abbas asserted. “The people of Kano are disillusioned with the NNPP’s governance and are eager for change.”
Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Abbas expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects. “Kano state APC is more united and popular than ever,” he declared. “We are committed to delivering a resounding victory, far surpassing our 2023 results.”
In conclusion, Abbas reiterated that the NNPP’s recent statements are indicative of its internal disarray and desperation. “While they focus on futile diversions,” he stated, “we are focused on delivering tangible progress for the people of Kano and Nigeria as a whole.”
The statement from the APC Chairman signals a firm stance amidst political challenges, setting the stage for intensified political maneuvers in the coming electoral cycle.
