African businesses often face a significant challenge: their longevity is frequently tied to the lifespan of their founders. When these founders pass away, it not only jeopardizes the business but also the groundbreaking ideas that contributed to its growth and success. This issue is compounded by a lack of proper documentation and shared experiences, resulting in a knowledge deficit that hampers the learning opportunities for younger entrepreneurs. Many established Nigerian business leaders from previous generations rarely share their insights, exacerbating this problem.
To combat this knowledge gap, GlobalMentorBridge is hosting its 2024 Gala, themed “Beyond Ideas,” on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Landmark Centre in Lagos. This summit is designed to bring together business leaders, entrepreneurs, and startups from across Nigeria for a day of idea exchange, networking, and mentorship.
The event will feature a distinguished lineup of speakers. Ifeoma Malo, CEO and Co-founder of Clean Technology Hub, will address “Building Clean Technology Hub – Attracting and Nurturing Top Talents into Global Leaders.” Don Ebubeogu, CEO/MD of Tiger Foods, will discuss “The Power of Mentorship to Drive Collaboration, Innovation, and Strong Business Leadership,” while Abimbola Adebakin, Founder and CEO of Advantage Health Africa, will share her experiences on “Leading Advantage Health Africa.”
Additional speakers include Babatunde Akin-Moses, Co-founder and CEO of Sycamore NG, who will focus on mentoring across various sectors; Dr. Clement Obadimu, CEO and Principal Partner at Mentor Tower, speaking on “Mentoring and Reverse Mentoring for Growth”; and Mrs. Modupe Ehirim, CEO and Principal Partner at MOE Advisory Ltd, discussing “The Importance of Mentoring for a Healthy Family Life.”
Shehu Zubairu, Senior Partner at Human Capital Partners, will offer insights on “Being a Pace Setter – Organizational and Personal Growth,” while Mayowa Adeosun, Co-founder and COO of Sycamore NG, will explore “Decision Making, Managing Change – Moving from England to Nigeria and Co-founding Sycamore.” Dr. Tochukwu MacFoy, Founder of Energize Africa, will provide perspectives on “Staying Ahead in Industry Knowledge and Emerging Technologies,” and Regis Ohia, CEO of Varosi Real Estate Group, will discuss “Gaining a Competitive Advantage in Real Estate.”
The summit has garnered support from various Nigerian businesses, startups, and international partners, including Al-Hussein Technical University in Amman, Jordan. This follows a successful summit held in Jordan in partnership with the University, featuring prominent speakers like Dr. Ismail Hinti, and reaching around 1.1 million people both in-person and online.
