Lahore, August 30, 2024 — A Nigerian national has been detained at Lahore International Airport by the Pakistan Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for attempting to smuggle cocaine into the country. The arrest was reported on Thursday by the Express Tribune.
The suspect, who arrived in Pakistan from Nigeria via Dubai, was found to have ingested 38 capsules filled with cocaine. According to the ANF spokesperson, the total weight of the seized cocaine is 608 grams.
This incident is part of a broader trend in drug trafficking cases involving Nigerian nationals. In 2023, Pakistani authorities arrested 10 Nigerians on similar charges, seizing a combined total of 4.811 kilograms of narcotics. This year alone, the ANF has conducted seven operations, resulting in the apprehension of eight Nigerians and the recovery of 11.420 kilograms of drugs.
The arrested individual is set to face charges under the Anti-Narcotics Act, with ongoing investigations to determine further details of the case.
