Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Radda, signed the Open Government Partnership (OGP) report on Tuesday, marking a significant step towards enhancing transparent, participatory, and accountable governance in the state. The signing ceremony, held at Government House, Katsina, underscores the state’s commitment to aligning with global standards for open governance.
Governor Radda affirmed his dedication to inclusive and accountable leadership, pledging to uphold these principles throughout his administration. The signing follows months of strategic engagement with stakeholders, including Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), as Katsina prepares to adhere to OGP standards.
In his address, Radda instructed the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning to maintain ongoing dialogue with the OGP National Secretariat. This collaboration aims to further develop action plans and letters of intent, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
Earlier this year, on July 12, Radda had directed relevant ministries to draft the State Action Plan and Independent Report Mechanism templates, reflecting Katsina’s commitment to the OGP principles.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Bello Kagara, presented a detailed report outlining the preparatory activities leading to Katsina State’s integration into the OGP. The report highlighted the progress made through stakeholder meetings, which resulted in key decisions, including the establishment of a 30-member Steering Committee with equal representation from both State and Non-State actors.
Further actions outlined in the report include a visit to the OGP National Secretariat, drafting a letter of intent, and exploring support from two key initiatives: the Centre for Leadership and Development (Centre LSD) and the HOPE Project.
