During the distribution event held at St. James’ Mega Primary School in Akure, Adegbomire announced that his donation included 60,000 notebooks, laptops, public address systems, projectors, magnetic boards, and school bags, with 10,000 notebooks allocated to each of the six local government areas within the district.
He emphasized the importance of education, stating, “Education is the bedrock of the development of any society. Particularly in this century, there is nothing you can achieve without being educated.” Adegbomire acknowledged that many aspiring students lack the necessary tools for effective learning and pledged to provide these essential resources.
In addition to the donated materials, he revealed plans for the rehabilitation of two primary schools in Akure South and the transformation of Oyemekun Grammar School into a world-class secondary institution. “The construction and the reconstruction will start in another two weeks. We are trying to provide a proper environment for students to learn,” he added.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by Mr. Francis Omoluwa from the Ministry of Education, commended the senator’s initiative, stating that it would significantly alleviate the financial burden on parents and contribute to the educational development of the region’s youth.
Aiyedatiwa remarked, “This initiative is more than just a donation; it’s a commitment to the educational development of our youths in the central senatorial district.” He highlighted how the donated items are designed to enhance the learning experience, bridge the digital divide, and create a conducive environment for academic excellence.
Mr. Ade Adetimehin, the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, praised Senator Adegbomire’s commitment to his constituents, noting that this effort sets a precedent for future investments in the educational sector. He asserted, “Senator Adegbomire has not only demonstrated his commitment to education but has also set a precedent for future investments in the academic sector. This is what true leadership looks like, providing opportunities for our students to thrive.”
