Governor Describes Lagbaja’s Death as a Major Loss to Nigeria

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, calling it a significant loss to the nation. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Makinde hailed Lagbaja as “a patriot and one of the finest military officers the country has produced.”

Condolences to Nigerian Government and Army

Makinde extended his condolences to President Bola Tinubu, the Nigerian Army, and the people of Osun State, where Lagbaja hailed from. He also expressed sympathy to the late military leader’s immediate family. The Governor prayed for Allah to grant Lagbaja’s soul eternal rest.

Details of Lagbaja’s Passing

The death of Lt. General Lagbaja, 56, was confirmed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. According to the statement, the Chief of Army Staff passed away on Tuesday night in Lagos after battling a period of illness.
