PANDEF Congratulates Okpebholo on Inauguration, Calls for Focus on Welfare

The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), the socio-political body representing the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria, has congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo on his inauguration as the Executive Governor of Edo State, alongside his Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa.

A New Era for Edo State

In a statement issued on November 14, 2024, the organization described the peaceful inauguration of the duo as a significant milestone for Edo State, especially amid global economic challenges. PANDEF expressed optimism that Governor Okpebholo and Deputy Governor Idahosa would usher in a new era of growth and prosperity for the people of Edo State.

PANDEF’s Call to Focus on People’s Welfare

PANDEF’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Dr. Obiuwevbi Christopher Ominimini, in the statement, urged the new leadership to prioritize the welfare and development of the people. “This is a momentous occasion for Edo State, and we are confident that their leadership will bring positive change,” the statement read. “It is crucial for the Governor and his team to remember that their mandate is a reflection of the trust and hopes placed in them by the good people of Edo. As such, the people’s welfare must always be paramount in their policies and actions.”

Confidence in Okpebholo’s Leadership

PANDEF expressed strong confidence in the ability of Governor Okpebholo and Deputy Governor Idahosa to perform credibly, citing their extensive track record in public service. Both leaders had previously represented the people of Edo State in the National Assembly, where they earned the trust of their constituents. Their re-election to the highest office in the state serves as a clear indication of the people’s faith in their leadership.

Collaboration for Regional Development

PANDEF’s National Chairman, Ambassador Godknows Igali, a seasoned diplomat, emphasized the forum’s commitment to working closely with the new Edo State administration, as well as with other governors in the Niger Delta region. This collaboration, he stressed, is vital for achieving sustainable development across the region.

“We remain committed to liaising with the Governor and other regional leaders to ensure that the Niger Delta achieves its rightful place in the national development agenda,” Ambassador Igali stated.

A Call for Unity, Cooperation, and Transparency

In conclusion, PANDEF reiterated its full support for the newly inaugurated leadership of Edo State and called for unity, cooperation, and transparency in governance for the benefit of the people and the future of the state.

The organization expressed its belief that with the new leadership in place, Edo State is poised for progress, and it is optimistic that the Governor will lead the state towards greater heights of economic, social, and infrastructural development.

Stay tuned to PANDEF’s future updates and contributions to the development of Edo State and the Niger Delta region.
