Kwara NLC Urges 50% Tax Reduction for WorkersDecember 24, 2024

The Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to implement a 50% reduction in the state’s new tax policy for workers.

In a statement released in Ilorin on Tuesday, the state NLC Chairman, Muritala Olayinka, also requested an extension of tax holidays for public service employees for an additional three months. He noted that this measure, introduced three months ago, provided relief during the ongoing economic hardship faced by citizens.

Olayinka lauded Governor AbdulRazaq for his consistent efforts in prioritizing the welfare of workers and pensioners through prompt salary and allowance payments, contrasting it with the performance of previous administrations. He also acknowledged the governor’s leadership in executing infrastructural projects that improve the quality of life for residents.

“Your Excellency’s dedication to workers’ welfare has not gone unnoticed. From the prompt payment of salaries and pensions to critical infrastructural projects, your administration has set a benchmark for inclusive governance,” Olayinka stated.

The NLC chairman expressed gratitude on behalf of the workforce, commending the governor’s achievements in healthcare, education, and social amenities. He reaffirmed the labor union’s commitment to collaborating with the administration to achieve further development milestones for the state.

Olayinka concluded with prayers for Governor AbdulRazaq’s continued success, health, and wisdom in steering Kwara State toward greater progress.
