The Jigawa State Police Command has officially welcomed 448 newly graduated police constables following their completion of six months of rigorous training at the Police College in Kaduna.
In a statement made available to the press in Dutse on Tuesday, Commissioner of Police (CP) Ahmad Abdullahi urged the recruits to uphold discipline and adhere strictly to the Nigeria Police Act, Regulations, and other federal laws.
Speaking at a parade for the new constables, CP Abdullahi emphasized the importance of integrity, honesty, professionalism, and respect for human rights in the execution of their duties.
“You must be disciplined and follow the rules and regulations governing your conduct as police officers,” he stated.
The CP further advised the recruits to avoid falling into the traps of corruption, urging them to refrain from unnecessary loans and unethical practices. He cautioned against any actions that could tarnish the reputation of the police force.
“You must be mindful of your actions and avoid any behavior that could bring disrepute to the police,” he stressed.
The statement also noted that the new constables, including those assigned to General Duty and Specialists, would undergo additional training on practical police duties, weapon handling, musketry, and combat operations. This training will be conducted by the Department of Operations and Mobile Base, 35PMF Dutse, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
CP Abdullahi reiterated the significance of adhering to SOPs and maintaining professionalism at all times.
“You must be professional in your conduct and always respect the rights of citizens,” he added.
The Commissioner of Police encouraged the recruits to remain committed to their responsibilities and work diligently toward ensuring Jigawa State remains a safe and secure place for its residents.
“You have a crucial role to play in maintaining law and order in the state,” CP Abdullahi said. “We will continue to strive for the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in the force.”
