Meet Alma Asinobi, the Nigerian Travel Content Creator Who Toured All 7 Continents in 71 Hours

Alma Asinobi, a 26-year-old Nigerian travel content creator, recently attempted to set a record for the fastest journey across all seven continents. Her recorded time? 71 hours.

Asinobi embarked on this challenge to highlight the difficulties many Africans, especially Nigerians, face due to passport restrictions. She began her journey on March 20 from King George Island, Antarctica, traveling through Chile, the Dominican Republic, Spain, Egypt, and Dubai before her final stop in Sydney, Australia. However, she faced a major setback when she was initially denied entry to Australia due to visa issues, delaying her attempt.

Who Is Alma Asinobi?

A graduate of Architecture, Asinobi is also a lifestyle blogger, travel entrepreneur, marketing copywriter, and content strategist for tech startups. She describes herself as a “world citizen on a mission to visit every country.”

Her love for travel began in 2020, but her curiosity was sparked as a child during road trips to the village. A later trip to a neighboring country deepened her passion for exploring diverse cultures and languages.

Attempting a Guinness World Record

Asinobi’s journey, tagged #AlmaChasingContinents and #7in60, was an effort to challenge the current record of 64 hours held by U.S. Air Force veteran Johnny Cruz Buckingham. Despite visa hurdles and flight delays, she successfully completed her journey, becoming the youngest and only Black solo traveler to attempt the record using solely a Nigerian passport.

Though she didn’t officially break the record, Asinobi’s determination and resilience have earned her recognition, and Nigerians celebrate her achievement.
