Senator Apologizes to Ezekwesili Over Insults

Abuja – Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has apologized to former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, for the insults she received from Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi during a Senate Committee hearing.

The altercation occurred on Tuesday when Nwaebonyi repeatedly interrupted Ezekwesili, prompting her to respond sharply. Nwaebonyi then fired back with personal insults, sparking widespread debate.

Akpoti-Uduaghan, who had petitioned against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, expressed regret over the incident and praised Ezekwesili’s commitment to good governance and democracy.

“Ma’am, I apologize for the insults,” Akpoti-Uduaghan wrote on social media. “Know you took them for me… for us … as a mother and as a leader.”

Ezekwesili had appeared as a witness in support of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s petition against Akpabio, who has been accused of intimidation, defamation, and sexual harassment.

The incident has sparked widespread debate, with many commending Ezekwesili’s stance on decorum and accountability in public discourse.
