Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the 2023 presidential election, has publicly reacted to the concerning circumstances surrounding the arrest and ongoing detention of Alabi Quadri.
Quadri, a minor, became known to the public in 2023 after a video of him standing in front of Obi’s campaign convoy in Lagos state went viral.
In a statement shared on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Obi conveyed his “grave concern” regarding the continued detention of the teenager.
Obi appealed to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to “always operate within the law and the rules.”
The detention of the 15-year-old Alabi Quadri, who is reportedly being held in Kirikiri prison, has drawn criticism from government opponents who are calling for justice in his case.
