The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Elvert Ayambem, has issued a strong commendation to workers spanning all sectors for their unwavering dedication, resilience, and significant contributions to the progress and stability of Cross River State and Nigeria as a whole.

The commendation was conveyed in a statement released on Thursday in Calabar by the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, Matthew Okache.

Speaker Ayambem emphasized the pivotal role of the labor force as the cornerstone of societal development. He acknowledged the daily sacrifices made by a diverse range of professionals, including civil servants, healthcare workers, educators, traders, farmers, security personnel, and artisans.

The Speaker urged workers across Cross River State to continue their support for the administration of Governor Bassey Otu, whose “People First” agenda prioritizes the welfare and empowerment of the state’s workforce.

He underscored that the commitment of the workers is central to the effective functioning of the economy and the overall well-being of the state’s citizens.

“May 1st is a moment to recognize and appreciate the men and women whose labour drives the engine of our economy and sustains the daily life of our state and nation,” Speaker Ayambem stated. “Your sacrifices, commitment, and hard work are the foundation of our progress as a people.”

Furthermore, the Speaker reaffirmed the Cross River State House of Assembly’s commitment to supporting policies and legislation that protect workers’ rights, foster decent employment opportunities, and advance the general welfare of the workforce.
