FRSC Orders Immediate Recall of Patrol Team Amid Bribery Allegations

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has taken swift action following reports of alleged bribery involving its personnel. Corps Marshal Malam Shehu Mohammed has ordered the immediate recall of the implicated patrol team for a comprehensive investigation.

The directive comes in response to a recent media report by Premium Times, which detailed allegations of misconduct by certain FRSC officers. In a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the FRSC emphasized its commitment to upholding high standards and its zero-tolerance policy towards corruption.

Corps Marshal Mohammed reiterated that any personnel found guilty of extortion or related offenses would face severe disciplinary actions, including dismissal and prosecution. He highlighted the Corps’ proactive measures, such as the implementation of an anti-corruption policy, dynamic operational strategies, and regular monitoring, to eliminate corrupt elements within the organization.

The FRSC has also partnered with organizations like the Akin Fadeyi Foundation and the MacArthur Foundation to launch the “Flag-It App,” allowing the public to report cases of extortion, bribery, or disservice by any FRSC operative. Mohammed urged citizens to utilize this platform to assist in maintaining accountability and transparency within the Corps.
