Oluwo of Iwo Escapes Alleged Assassination Attempt Involving Trailer Collision

The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has raised alarm over an alleged assassination attempt on his life, claiming that a trailer was deliberately sent to crash into his convoy. The monarch, however, emerged unscathed from the incident, which he described as a “failed plot to eliminate me.”

Speaking to journalists after the incident, which occurred on Monday evening along a major highway in Osun State, Oba Akanbi narrated how the trailer allegedly veered off its path and rammed into one of the vehicles in his convoy. He alleged that the manner in which the incident unfolded suggested premeditation rather than an accident.

“This was not an ordinary accident,” the Oluwo stated. “A trailer was sent to kill me, but it failed. It collided with one of the vehicles, but thankfully, no lives were lost. The vehicle was dented, but I was protected.”

The monarch did not name specific suspects but called on security agencies to investigate the incident thoroughly and bring those behind the alleged plot to justice. He also urged the public to remain vigilant and prayerful, suggesting that the traditional institution was increasingly being targeted by forces opposed to its influence and reforms.

Eyewitnesses at the scene confirmed that a trailer had indeed collided with one of the vehicles in the royal convoy, causing significant damage. However, there were no fatalities, and the Oluwo was quickly evacuated to safety.

As of press time, the Osun State Police Command had not issued an official statement regarding the incident, but sources indicate that an investigation is underway to determine whether the crash was accidental or deliberate.

This development comes amid growing tension in parts of Osun State over traditional leadership roles and regional political dynamics.
