Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has appointed Mr. Nsa Gill as the new Chief Press Secretary (CPS), marking a key addition to his media and communications team.
The announcement was made on Monday through a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, who noted that the appointment takes immediate effect.
Gill, a seasoned journalist and former correspondent with the Daily Independent, brings over two decades of experience in media practice to the role. He is expected to oversee the governor’s media relations, coordinate press briefings, and manage public communication strategies for the administration.
According to the statement, the new CPS was chosen based on his track record of professionalism, deep understanding of media dynamics, and commitment to ethical journalism.
“His appointment reflects the governor’s confidence in his ability to enhance public engagement and effectively communicate the policies and programmes of the administration,” the statement read.
Observers say the appointment signals Governor Otu’s renewed focus on strengthening the government’s image and improving transparency through effective communication.
Gill replaces Emmanuel Ogbeche, who had served in the role since the beginning of the administration. No reason was given for the change, but sources close to the Government House described it as part of routine adjustments aimed at repositioning the media office for greater efficiency.
The new CPS has since resumed duty and pledged to work diligently to project the governor’s vision for a “People-First” Cross River.
