Cubana Chief Priest Cites U.S. Visa Issues for Absence at Davido’s Miami Wedding

Celebrity barman Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has revealed that long-standing U.S. visa challenges prevented him from attending Afrobeats star Davido’s wedding in Miami, Florida.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, the nightlife entrepreneur expressed “mixed feelings” over the occasion happiness for the couple and sadness at being unable to join in person. He accompanied his statement with a video from Davido’s traditional wedding in Lagos in 2024, where he was in attendance.

“Sometimes, God has a way of making you understand that you are powerless regardless of all you may think you have,” he wrote.

Responding to online criticism over his absence, Cubana Chief Priest thanked detractors for giving him “multiple reasons and proofs” to reapply for a visa, directly appealing to the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria.

“You can clearly see how disappointed and hurt the world is to see me absent at my best friend’s wedding… delay is never denial CP is still hopeful,” he added.

The businessman noted that while he could not attend, his wife and family were present at the Miami event to represent him.

Earlier this year, he disclosed that repeated visa denials stem from errors made on his first application years ago mistakes that, he says, persist in the U.S. immigration system. “If I had a visa to enter Yankee today, it would be a dream come true,” he told Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds in January.

Davido and his wife, Chioma, hosted friends and celebrities at a lavish pre-wedding celebration in Miami on Saturday ahead of their white wedding.
