Inter Milan have refused to raise their offer for Nigeria international Ademola Lookman beyond €50 million, bonuses included, as they continue their push to sign the Atalanta forward despite resistance from the Bergamo club.
The Nerazzurri have been in pursuit of the reigning African Player of the Year for weeks but have yet to make a breakthrough, with Atalanta determined not to sell to a direct Serie A rival. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter’s final bid is set at €45m before bonuses, and €50m including them a figure Atalanta have already rejected.
The impasse has sparked tension, with Lookman publicly accusing Atalanta of breaking promises and treating him poorly. The former Leicester City man claims he had an agreement allowing him to leave this summer if a suitable offer arrived. Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi, however, insists the deal only applies to “top” clubs outside Italy.
Frustrated, the 27-year-old has refused to report for training, leaving the situation at a stalemate. Napoli, who targeted Lookman in January as a potential Khvicha Kvaratskhelia replacement, remain in the background and could re-enter the race if Inter pull out.
Premier League side Arsenal have also shown interest, tabling an opportunistic £45m bid. But Lookman has reportedly turned it down, preferring to stay in Italy and pursue a move to the Serie A champions, with personal terms already agreed.
Atalanta continue to hold out for their €50m valuation and are reportedly considering legal action over the Nigerian’s absence from training.
