Reigning Serie A champions Napoli are weighing a move for Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare as they look to reinforce their attack following the long-term injury to Romelu Lukaku.
Manager Antonio Conte has instructed the club to explore the striker market urgently, with the 24-year-old Genk forward emerging as a prime candidate alongside Manchester United youngster Rasmus Højlund.
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development on Tuesday, writing: “Napoli keep moving for new striker after Romelu Lukaku injury and today made contact with Tolu Arokodare’s camp. He is valued at €20/25m by Genk after being top scorer last season in Belgium. Follows moves for Højlund on Monday as Napoli are exploring the strikers market.”
Arokodare enjoyed a standout 2024/25 campaign in Belgium, scoring 23 goals and delivering seven assists in 45 appearances across all competitions. His prolific form earned him the Jupiler Pro League’s top scorer award and put him on the radar of several European clubs during the summer transfer window.
The Nigerian has already opened his account this season, netting in Genk’s 2-1 defeat to Standard Liège earlier this month. However, he has been deployed mostly from the bench, with head coach Thorsten Fink hinting at a possible departure.
“It’s money time for Tolu. The club simply has to sell,” Fink admitted, further fueling speculation about the forward’s future.
Should a move materialise, Arokodare could follow in the footsteps of fellow Nigerian stars who have flourished in Naples, including Victor Osimhen, and potentially establish himself as one of Europe’s rising attacking forces.
