Oyebanji Vows to Make EKSU World-Class as Alumni Purchase APC Nomination Form for His Re-Election

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has pledged that his administration will provide the necessary support and enabling environment to transform Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, into a world-class institution before the end of his tenure.

The governor, who is an alumnus and former lecturer at the university, expressed delight that the institution was regaining stability through his government’s interventions.

“Our university is out of the intensive care unit now; what we need to do is to stabilise it,” Oyebanji said.

He made the remarks in Ado Ekiti on Thursday when the EKSU Alumni Association formally presented him with the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination forms, in support of his bid for re-election in the June 2026 governorship poll.

Oyebanji described the gesture by his colleagues in the Alumni Association as an uncommon show of love and confidence.

“I am extremely grateful to the Alumni Association, the EKSU Alumni Solidarity Group for BAO, and to all who contributed. By the time we leave office, we will have a university that is world-class. The process has started,” he assured.

The governor highlighted his administration’s interventions at EKSU, including the constitution of a new governing council and management team, as well as an increase in the institution’s monthly subvention.

He further promised to continue implementing inclusive governance, economic development, and educational reforms that would make alumni proud.

Presenting the nomination forms, EKSU Alumni Global President, Mr. Seyi Idowu, said the association’s decision reflected its confidence in Oyebanji’s leadership and achievements.

“The decision to buy the nomination forms for Governor Oyebanji was a show of confidence in his leadership. His impressive track record in governance and his commitment to the people’s welfare have made him the right choice to continue to steer the affairs of the state,” Idowu said.

The Director General of the EKSU Alumni Solidarity Group, Dipo Bamisaye, described the governor as a man of “exceptional performance, strength of character, vision and impeccable leadership.”

He listed Oyebanji’s achievements in less than three years in office to include creating a peaceful business and political environment, infrastructural development, increased subventions to tertiary institutions, and defrayment of gratuities.
