Police authorities in Tripoli, Libya, have arrested two Nigerians accused of carrying out multiple robberies in the city, according to Migrant Rescue Watch, an organisation that monitors migrant activities.
The suspects, both undocumented migrants, were apprehended on August 25 after CCTV footage allegedly captured them robbing a convenience store.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the group said the men had been linked to a string of break-ins and robberies targeting commercial outlets with the aim of stealing cash.
“Police in Tripoli arrested two undocumented migrants of Nigerian nationality responsible for a series of break and entries and robberies. The accused were targeting commercial stores with the intent of seizing cash. The case was referred to the public prosecutor,” the statement read.
The suspects are currently in police custody, pending further investigation and possible prosecution.
