3 burnt to death,13 injured as bus gut fire in Kano

Three people have been reported dead, while 13 other got injured after a Haice bus gutted by fire at State Road by Government Technical College in Nassarawa Local Government Area Kano.

Public Relations Officer of Kano State Fire service, SFS. Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Wednesday in Kano.

He said the vehicle was a commercial Haice with registration number XE 222 TRN
coming from Ajingi Local Government Area to Kofar Wambai when it instantly engulfed in fire.

“We received an emergency call from one Muktar Yusuf at about 08:51a m that there was fire outbreak at State road.

“On receiving the information, we quickly sent some of our personnel and fire fighting vehicle to the scene of the incident at about 08:59 a.m to rescue the victims”,he said.

The spokesman said Fire officers and Federal Road Safety Corps made their effort to successfully quench the fire and rescued the victims but three people have died instantly.

Abdullahi said three females who lost their lives were seriously burnt and gave their names as follows:Surayya Umar and Zeenai Babaji while the other victim with unknown name.

He said the remaining 13 victims sustain serious injuries and were conveyed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital for treatment.

He further explained that the driver, Muhammed Gali, 35, and bus conductor Hassan Danladi, 30 years were rescued alive without any injury and were later handed over to Insp. Abubakar Ahmad of Nassarawa police Division.

According to him, the cause of incident was as result of overspeeding and one rear tyre at back flung out.

He called on motorist to drive with caution and also commiserate with the families of the victims who lost their lives.
