Businessman Abducted by Gunmen in Anambra

A middle-aged man, believed to be a businessman, has been abducted in the Alor community of Idemili South Local Government Area in Anambra State. The incident occurred late Sunday evening as the victim was driving home from an event.

Witnesses report that the assailants intercepted the victim’s vehicle near Ezeani Primary School, where they forcibly removed him from his Toyota Corolla, plate number EKY-102GK. According to an anonymous source, the attackers shattered the car’s windows and struck the victim before bundling him into their own vehicle.

“The incident happened around 6:47 PM,” the source said. “The man’s face was covered in blood when he was taken. While we couldn’t identify him at that moment, we suspect he is a member of our community and a businessman.”

Residents described the scene as chaotic, with many fleeing to safety while watching from a distance. The victim’s car was later found abandoned, blood-stained and left at the scene.

A video circulating on social media also shows the abandoned vehicle, which has sparked further concern among locals.

Confirming the abduction, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, stated that an investigation is underway. “The Command is looking into the reported abandoned vehicle in Alor Community. Preliminary findings indicate that the victim was taken by unidentified individuals,” he said. “Our operatives are collaborating with local residents to facilitate the victim’s rescue and apprehend the suspects.”

Authorities continue to gather information as the search for the abducted businessman intensifies.
