Gombe South Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders, under the auspices of Kaltungo-Shongom Critical Stakeholders Forum has disclosed that, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be rejected at the polls in Gombe South and the entire state in 2023 general elections over it’s abysmal failure as PDP poised to take over.
This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday signed by Dr Lamela Silas.
According to the statement, their resolved followed a meeting held in Abuja on September 22, 2023 attended by the Gombe State PDP chairman, Gen. Amnom Kalaye (Rtd), the Gombe South PDP Senatorial Candidate, Anthony Yaro, the PDP House of Representatives for Kaltungo/Shongom federal constituency, Obed Paul Shehu and other stakeholders, to reposition their people towards the 2023 elections and to ensure PDP victory at the polls.
It stated: “The Forum, first of all, admitted that as architects of our people’s political fortune and natural leaders, we should take responsibility to sharpen and give shape to the political future of our people through a process of strategic thinking, appropriate guidance and leadership”.
The Forum expressed its appreciation to the PDP which it said, has demonstrated firm belief in democracy and as a result conducted the freest election in the last primaries giving all a level playing ground and sense of belonging.
It added: “The outcome from the feedback is being celebrated amongst our people and the ovation still subsists.
“This has assisted to sustain the people’s confidence in the PDP and hence their persistent clarion call to the party to come for the rescue of the State from the strangulating hands of the current APC government come 2023.
“The Forum equally stressed on the need to relentlessly continue the search for meaningful and rightful leadership and participation in the recruitment process. This, the Forum believes is premised on the fact that development is a consequence of rightful leadership.
“We took our time to critically examine the political atmosphere and discussed the strategies to adopt towards ensuring that the PDP wins the coming elections given the confidence of our people in the new bride.
“The Forum acknowledged the power of incumbency and therefore elaborately discussed on the strategies to topple especially that the good people of Gombe are wearied.
“We resolved that the challenge is not insurmountable and that we not only can but shall, for we cannot afford to disappoint the hopeful people of Kaltungo- Shongom, Tangale/Waja and indeed Gombe State who look up to us to salvage them from the visionless and clueless governance style of the APC-led administration.
“It was resolved that the abysmal failure of the present administration should not be condoned and therefore call on all to reject them at the polls come 2023”.
