Berom thugs kill two Muslim traders in Plateau

Suspected Berom thugs have waylaid and killed two Hausa-Fulani traders in Barkin Ladi local government area of Plateau state.

The Nigeria Army-led Operation Safe Haven, OPSH, in the state confirmed the killing of two traders along Barkin Ladi community by suspected Berom youth Sunday night.

According to Daily Nigerian, Information officer of the OPSH, Adam Umar, who confirmed the incident, also said two other persons were injured while one other person was left unharmed.

Mr Umar, a major, said the incident occurred at Nding Sesut village of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

According to him, the vehicle in which the victims were travelling was also taken away by the attackers.

“We received a distress call from the scene of the incident and our men, upon arrival, discovered that two persons were killed, two others were injured.

“We don’t know whether the attackers are armed robbers but the sector commander has summoned stakeholders meeting to douse tension while our men are investigating the matter,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Vegetables Sellers Association at Building Materials Market, Jos, Fodio Umar, has identified the two victims, Tanimu Sanusi and Usman Inusa, as members of his association.

According to him, they were killed on their way back from Barkin Ladi on Sunday night.

The Plateau state police command is yet to react to the report of the attack.
