The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission on Thursday, has withdrew its earlier invitation of the two wives of late Kano Emir, Alhaji Ado Bayero and others over financial misappropriation.
The withdrawal of the invitation was announced in a letter dated 20th, June 2019 and signed by the Director Public Complaints and Mediation of the Commission, Malam Salisu Tahir on behalf of its Chairman, Muhyi Magaji.
It could be recalled that the Anti-Corruption Commssion has invited over 30 people said to have benefitted from the expenditures of the N3.4 billon allegedly misappropriated by the Kano Emirtate Council under the watch of Emir of Kano, His Highness, Muhammad Sanusi 11.
According to a letter of invitation addressed to the Secretary of Kano Emirate Council, the invitees are expected to report to the Commssion’s office on Monday, June 24.
The letter dated June 17 and signed by Director, Public Complaints and Mediation, Salisu M. Tahir, on behalf of the chairman of the Commission stated that, “the Commission in the exercise of its power conferred to it under Section 9 and 15 of the Kano Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Law 2008 (as ammended) is further investigating an alleged violation of Section 26 of the Commssion’s enabling law in the management of Kano state Emirate Council funds.
“Consequent upon the above and pursuant to the provision of Section 31 (1) (a) and (b) of the Kano state Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Law 2008 (as ammended) you are requested to extend the Commssion’s invitation to some personalities that the expenditures were incurred for them in respect of medical sponsoreship to overseas to appear before this Commission along with relevant documents to shed more light on same.”
