– Give me grace of few days, owner begs court
A magistrate court sitting in Gidan Murtala, Kano has ordered one Isyaku Shu’aibu who owns a rooster notorious for its loud crows to slaughter it for disturbing neighbors and halting their sleep.
Neighbor of the appellant, Yusuf Muahmmad Ja’en filed a complaint with the court, presided over by Magistrate Halima Wali claiming that the rooster’s relentless crows disturbs their sleep and peace of the neighborhood.

When the complaint was read to the owner he confirmed that the cock crows too much but he is planning to slaughter it very soon.
In her judgment, Magistrate Wali ordered that the owner should slaughter the rooster as soon as he leaves the court.
However, the owner pleaded with the court to give him grace of some days as he is planning to slaughter it during the Good Friday holiday period which is scheduled for April 7, 2023.
The magistrate, convinced by the complainants’ argument, agreed and ruled that the cock should be caged and slaughtered on 7th of April (Good Friday).
