A magistrate court 52 in Kano, presided over by justice Ibrahim Mansur Yola has remanded the House of Representatives Majority Leader, Alasan Ado Doguwa in a correctional centre for alleged murder of 16 people during the recently concluded general elections in Kano.
Doguwa was arraigned before the court, Wednesday evening by the Nigerian Police Force over five count charges bordering on murder, conspiracy on killing people, burning places, creating disturbing and distorting peace among residents.
The offenses contravened section 114, 247, and 221 of the Penal Code.
He was arraigned alongside one of his supporters, Bashir Dahiru, and 6 others who are not yet arrested and were also alleged to be among the perpetrators of the killings.
When the charges were read against him, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
Councel to the defendant prayed the court to admit his client on bail.
The judge then adjourned the sitting to 7th March, 2023 for hearing about the bail.
