Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, chairman of the Kano chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to immediately declare Abba Kabir Yusuf, candidate of the party as winner of the governorship polls in the state.
Bichi made the appeal in an interview with journalists after a briefing session by the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Riskuwa Shehu, in Kano on Monday.
He said declaring the winner of the election would douse growing tension and anxiety in the state
“The REC has told everyone that the results of 10 out of the eleven wards of Nasarawa are ready.
“Everybody has the results, he can make the return and we can go and have the rerun in the remaining one ward later on.
“This is necessary to ease tension in the state. Everybody knows the PDP has won this election,” he said.
Abba Yusuf is currently ahead of his main rival Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of the ruling APC with 16,080 votes after results from 43 out of 44 local government councils were announced.
The only remaining local government yet to be called in Nasarawa where the PDP is believed to have defeated the APC with a very wide margin.
