Ex-lawmaker who shelved Ganduje’s bribery probe appointed KAROTA MD

Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, a former lawmaker in the Kano State House of Assembly who was forced to abandon the dollar bribery probe against Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, has been appointed the new head of the Kano Roads Traffic Agency (KAROTA) by the governor.

DAILYFOCUS recalls that Dan Agundi headed the committee set up by the 8th Kano Assembly under former Speaker Kabiru Alhassan Rurum to investigate video clips that appeared to show Ganduje shoving wads of high denomination American dollars into his voluminous babbar riga pockets.

The governor, who denied the allegations, sought a Kano high court order that compelled Dan Agundi’s committee to stop the probe and the lawmakers never appealed the controversial ruling.

However, Dan Agundi, a member of the governor’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), who served as majority leader then, lost re-election to Salisu Maje Ahmad Gwangwazo of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his Kano Municipal constituency.

In a statement, Abba Anwar, Ganduje’s chief press secretary said Dan Agundi’s appointment as the new KAROTA boss takes immediate effect.

Also, in the same statement, Ganduje also appointed Idris Wada Saleh as the new managing director of the Kano Roads Maintenance Agency (KARMA).

The governor charged them to work diligently, saying they were appointed based on their track records.

“I am hopeful that you will make these organisations to be more robust, effective and efficient.”

“Your coming on board is a pointer to your immense contributions for the state. It also shows that you will put your strength towards promoting good service delivery in your various offices,” Ganduje said.

While directing them to imbibe the culture of complying with best practices in their newly assigned responsibilities, he also urged them to always remain partners in progress in moving the state to higher level.

“I was able to closely monitor your contributions towards the development of the state in the last dispensation, I still maintain that passion and enthusiasm in your new assigned responsibilities. Just prove to all that you are up to the task. Which I know you are,” the governor added..
