The Senior Special Assistant to the governor of Kano state on Special Broadcast, Zahra’u Nasir Ahmad has disbursed over 150 wrappers to women in Shagari Quarters, area of Kumbotso local government of the state metropolis.
The distribution of the wrappers which was witnessed by the councilor of the ward, Musulihu Yusuf Ali, is in line with the directive of the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to support people in the state with different packages that reduces the hardships experienced across the country.
Speaking during the distribution, the SA to the governor, Zahrau Nasir Ahmad said the gesture will go a long way in supporting women to enjoy the dividends of democracy as they are sometimes left behind.
According to her, women as the backbone of the society, have pivotal roles to play in ensuring good governance, calling on them to vote for the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate as they promised to do more to the women.
“Women are very important in every society that is why we decided to do this with the consent of His Excellency the executive governor of Kano and our gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna. I spoke with our gubernatorial candidate and he said this is just the beginning and he became the governor of Kano state, by the grace of God he will double this.
“I believe they are more than 100, they are about 200 and all have gotten their wrappers. Voting for Gawuna/Garo is very important for Kano women and he promised to do more than what they are seeing now. Our present governor has done a lot for the state and they should look at that vote for our candidates,” she said.
She called on women and other people in the state to ensure that they vote for Gawuna/Garo, assuring that they will enjoy their government better than any other one.
On their part, beneficiaries of the gesture expressed satisfaction with the gesture, committing that they will vote for Gawuna/Garo as their candidates in the gubernatorial elections.
Bilkisu Maitama said “We really appreciate them for this gesture. We have already made up our mind that we will vote for Gawuna/Garo. We each get a wrapper and we are very happy.”
Jamila Abdulkarim is the woman leader of the APC in the area and she said “Since the beginning of politics in Kano, the women of this area have never gotten anything until now. That is why we decided to vote for Gawuna Garo,” she said.
