The Standard Organizations of Nigeria (SON), has called on the general public to report any substandard products they may come across either in markets or any public domain inroder to compliment its efforts of eliminating fake goods in the country.
The call was made by the Director General of the SON, Mallam Farouk Salim during the celebration of Golden Jubilee Anniversary to mark 50 years of existence of the organization and exhibition of MANCAP certified products in Kano.

Mr Salim said the call has become necessary following the number of reports obtained by the organization’s enforcement unit, adding that any substandard product found, the owner and the company will be dealt with accordingly.
He revealed that in the past 50 years, the Organization has done a lot in promoting and protecting products consume by Nigerians in ensuring products are produce up to the standard.
“Part of our primary duty is to ensure that Nigerians not only consume products that are up to standards, but also to be exporting goods that would be accepted across the globe.”
The DG also said “One of the biggest achievement we have is establishment of halal institute in Kano.
“Halal institute consist of training, regional center and the laboratory which is the same as Lagos laboratory”, he said.
The Director General said industries can enroll their employees in the centre to be train on management and to help them in producing standard products.
He also tasks Industries to reach out to the organization when their products are copied by someone, while the organization will take action against the criminals.
On his part, Kano state governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said the state government is ready to partner with the organization to support local industries coming up in the state.
Represented by the commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Barrister Ibrahim Mukhtar, the governor urged them to train their staff of the junior industry in the state so that they can get knowledge of identity good or substandard products.
The event was attended by various industries from across different products in the state.
