Some Kano residents desperate to make money have compiled the alleged bribe-taking video clips of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje into compact disk (CD) plates which they allegedly sell to members of the public on the streets of Kano city.
It was learnt that the opportunists collected all the six episodes that have been released on the internet so far and produced many CDs that are being sold to interested buyers.
An online newspaper Daily Nigerian had published a series of video clips purporting to show Ganduje receiving wads of dollar notes said to be bribes paid to him by local contractors executing various projects in the state.
In some of the videos, captured by a spy camera, the governor could be seen collecting bundles of dollars and stuffing them into his robes as well as envelops. Daily Nigerian had claimed that Ganduje had collected over $5 million dollars in total.
However Ganduje has since denounced the clips as “doctored” and slammed a N3 billion lawsuit against Daily Nigerian and its publisher Jaafar Jaafar, who insists the videos are genuine.
In a photo circulated on social media, a hawker can be seen apparently displaying a CD plate of the scandalous clips, with a title “Gandolors” and produced by a “Giginyu Film Production Company Nigeria Ltd”.
It was unclear where the photo was taken but some commenters said the CD plates were produced for the sake of rural dwellers and others who cannot watch them online due to lack of internet access.
The commenters also said the CD clips have been circulated in many market places in the city, a claim that has not been independently verified.
