Huawei technologies Nigeria limited has donated a building and fully equipped computer laboratory to Koguna Community of Makoda local government area of Kano state.
The official commissioning of the newly constructed computer laboratory was held and cited at Government Secondary School (GSS) Koguna.
Speaking, the Deputy Director, Public Relations, Huawei Nigeria limited, Miss Fafore Nihinlola Mary said, Huawei being in Nigeria for over 22 years and given all the patronage by the good people in the country, it is therefore pleased to give back through Corporate Social Responsibility and decided to invest in education.

“Looking at the contribution given by the federal government of Nigeria and by extension the enabling environment by the NCC, the vision is to let Kano state to be a model on education in Nigeria in view of the state government commitment to restructure education system in the state.
“We have seen how the present administration at all level is working on reform and establishment of digital literacy, hence, our decision to also invest.”
She added that this is just a pilot gesture as the initiative is geared towards reaching out to all local government areas in the state and the country at large.
On his part, the Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Professor Umar Garba Danbatta who is the special guest of honour and whom the laboratory was named after, congratulate the entire community and students for having the gesture.
“I congratulate you children (students) for having this project. We hope this will help in advancing education and other aspects of human development.”
He therefore, task them to make judicious use of the facilities while praying it serves as a medium for acquiring contemporary knowledge and digital skills.
The laboratory encompases of 30 units of desktop computer sets with chairs and desks, fully air conditioned with office, store and control room and Solar powered.
