Kano State gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mallam Ibrahim Khalil has assured that he will give all Local Government Areas of the state their Federal Government allocations directly without any interference.
The candidate while addressing newsmen in Kano said the decision is necessary seeing the level of poverty among people, especially in the rural areas.
Represented by his deputy, Dr. Aminu Abdurrahman Anas, Khalil said he went round all the 44 local government areas of the state during his campaigns and that he has seen the level of poverty among people, with many of them suffering to get drinking water.
“We visited over 289 towns and villages during our campaign. But the most painful is how people are suffering as a result of the denial of FG’s allocations directly to the LGAs. There was a village where they had to travel for kilometers to get drinking water, some had to even dig a hole.
“But when we check the official document that shows the amount of money allocated to the LGAs, we found that some get up to N81 billion. But the state governments are denying them their rights. This has plunged them into poverty,” he said.
According to him, if elected, one of their primary projects is to let the LG’s utilize their allocation in order to fight the abject poverty people are suffering from.
He said they has all the qualities to be elected as the governor and deputy governor of the state, adding that he has spent over 50 years propagating Islam and interacting with different people.
Khalil called on the people of the state to come out on 11th March, 2023 to exercise their right and vote for them.
