The Kano State Fire Service says it saved 72 lives and property worth N38.6 million from 17 fire incidents in September.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, on Tuesday in Kano.
Abdullahi said that nine people, however, lost their lives and property worth N14.8million were estimated to have been destroyed by fire during the period under review.

According to him, the service responded to 49 rescue calls and 11 false alarms from residents of the state.
The spokesperson urged the general public to handle fire with care to prevent outbreaks and also caution motorists further to abide by the traffic law to avoid road crashes especially when during rainy season.
