A Kano state Shari’a court sitting in Kwana Hudu has sentenced one Naziru Abubakar to six months in prison for snatching his neighbor’s phones and pushing her to fall on the ground.
The judge, Nura Yusuf Ahmad also ordered that the convict received 30 lashes as part of the judgement.
Abubakar was arraigned before the court for two count charges after he was arrested by the police in Kano.
He was accused of snatching two phone valued at N80 thousand from a married woman and also pushing her to fall on ground.
He committed the offense sometime in Gayawa area of Ungogo local government, and that the woman, who is their neighbor shouted for help where the convict was arrested and arraigned before the court.
When the prosecution counsel, Aliyul Abidin read the charges against him, he pleaded guilty instantly.
He also pleaded with the court to make its final judgment considering section 350 of the ACJL.
The judge, Nura Yusuf Ahmad sentenced him to six months in prison without option of fine.
He was also ordered to pay the sum of N50 thousand for the other phone that was missing after he snatched the two phones, while the other one was found in his possession.
He also recieved 30 lashes before leaving the court premises.
