NEPC, NITDA train Kano exporters on digital marketing to boost global markets reach

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) in partnership with the Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has trained 150 Kano exporters on the utilization of digital marketing to facilitate non-oil exports market access to compete with global standards.
The training which drew different participants from the exporters circle, centered on the ways they can access global markets using digital technology to boost profit and promote their products to the global environment.
Speaking at the event which held at Chila Hotel in Kano on Tuesday, the Director, Policy and Strategy of the NEPC, Lawal Dalhat said the training is towards assisting exporters leverage on online marketing tools to enhance visibility in the global markets for business upscaling and increase in sales.
He said the rising number of people accessing the internet on a daily basis and the effects of Covid-19 pandemic and other global challenges facing the world, prompted the need for equipping the exporters with digital skills to ensure that they take advantage in their businesses and save more profits.
“The workshop is borne out of the need to equip our exporters with digital skills amidst the global economic realities driven by technology and IT solutions. The Covid-19 experience and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has gradually changed the world economic order.
“The use of digital marketing has become the order of the day in promoting trade and breaking barriers. Therefore the participants will, after the training, get acquainted with digital marketing skills such us creating business websites, email and ways they can perform International businesses online,” he said.
In his presentation, Ahmed Tijjani Ishaq from NITDA said the beneficiaries will get free websites open for their businesses for one year, after which they will continue to advertise their products to the global markets.
Some of the participants interviewed said they will take advantage of the training to go digital and penetrate global markets.
Usman Bara’u Musa, owner of Innovate Global System, said he will use the opportunity to promote his business of packaging Honey and Kilishi in the online space to reach global markets.
“I am processing and exporting pure honey to some countries. But with this kind of trainings our sales will surely increase. Before we are only used ot sending through WhatsApp but now we will get our websites that everyone can access and see our products.”
Maryam Abbas from L&Z dairy said through the training they will be able to engage with customers from within and outside the country to as they usually face difficulties is selling their products abroad.
