Oba Yoruba Kano, Muritala Alimi Otisese has congratulated Kano contingent to the just concluded 21st edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF) tagged Delta 2022.
The traditional ruler described the sterling performance by the state athletes as heroic, noting that the overall performance by Team Kano deserved to be praised.
The monarch in a statement issued in Kano said, once again, Kano athletes have shown that the state retains it role as the frontline state in northern Nigeria and Nigeria at large.
According to him, Team Kano who won 19 gold, 27 silver, and 30 bronze, in total, 76 medals is an enviable achievement.
“Team Kano came 7th position on the final medals table, that is to say Kano is the first team in the north, finishing among the first 10 in Nigeria, this is an excellent performance.
“I thank almighty Allah, the giver of life, He made it possible for our children to achieve this feat. The festival is our own version of the Olympics, it is important to identify with the success story and we say well done to Team Kano.
“I congratulate the government of our beloved state, under the leadership of our governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, our profound felicitations to our royal father, our highly revered emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, whose love and passion for sports, we are emulating.
“Kano state Sports Commission (KSSC) under the stewardship of a veteran in sports voyage, Ibrahim Galadima and members of his management team.”
