The Kano State Police Command have arrested a 35-year-old woman, Fatima Salisu who allegedly stabbed her neighbor’s 7-year-old daughter over allegations that the father of the victim is advising her husband to take in another wife.
Recalled that Daily Trust reported an incident where a woman stabbed a 7-year-old girl identified as Fatima Usman after taking her ot a hideout from Gadon Kaya to Mariri, Hotoro area of Kumabotso in Kano state.
The victim, even though stabbed with knife is still alive and recieving treatment at hospital.
However, after investigation by the state police Command, the suspect was arrested in a village of Dutse local government in Jigawa state.
Parading the suspect at the command’s headquarters in Kano, Spokesman of the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said the woman was arrested by a team raised by the state by the commissioner of police, CP Muhammed Usaini Gumel.
While fielding questions from journalists, the 35-year-old suspect confessed to the crime and blame the act of devil.
She said recently she is battling with influence of jinns to the extent that she visited psychiatric hospital in the state.
The suspect further narrated that she took the victim and stabbed her with a knife she bought at N300 and dumped her in an uncompleted building thinking that she died.
“I took her from Gadon Kaya to Mariri and stabbed with the knife. I did that because I was thinking her father is the one influencing my husband to the in another wife. I bought the knife at N300. When I stabbed her I thought she died.
“I never thought it will be as big as this.We are suffering right now, and if he bring another wife things will double for us. But I regretted this and plead with the police and the court to forgive me. Since the girl is alive, please forgive me,” she said.
Also speaking, her husband confirmed that she was once taken to psychiatric hospital over series of chage in her attitudes, adding that he never attempted to take in a second wife.
Meanwhile, the police said investigation has commenced into the matter and she will be prosecuted after.
