The Kano state government has given abatement notice to the management of the popular fruits market ‘Yan-lemo’ in Kumbotso local government area following their failure to sanitize their domain.
The state Commissioner for environment Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso disclosed this during monthly environmental sanitations excercise for Markets, Motor Parks, Abattoirs, Business Premises and governments establishments held in Kano.
The commissioner expressed dismay over their failure to sanitize the market, saying that a three days abatement notice was served to the management of the market and failure to comply will attract sanctions.
He said the ministry pays much attention to the sanitation of fruit due to the nature of their consumption.
“We pay attention to sanitation of consumables food items because they will not be cook before taking.”
Dr. Kabiru Getso then urged the management of other business premises in the state to ensure frequent environmental sanitations so as to safeguard people’s health.
In a remarks, the chairman of the Market Safiyanu Abdullahi promised to comply with all orders given by the ministry.
