#StopKillingNortherners: Anger over Buhari’s silence over killing of Hausas in Oyo

Angry northern Nigerians are condemning President Muhammadu Buhari over his silence as Yoruba thugs continue to massacre innocent and helpless Hausa residents in Oyo state.

Leaders of the Northern community in Ibadan told Daily Nigerian on Saturday that members of the Amotekun, a security outfit in Southwest are collaborating with armed thugs to hunt down and kill defenseless northerners in the state.

Daily Focus reports that the ethnic crisis in Oyo state began on Tuesday following an altercation between a male Hausa trader and a Yoruba woman who subsequently mobilized her kinsmen to attack and kill Hausa people while also looting and burning their properties.

Usman Yako, a Chairman of Hausa traders in Sasa area of the state told Daily Nigerian that when the ethnic attacks on them started, they informed the police who did nothing.

“When Amotekun came, they started shooting at Northerners. The hoodlums started setting houses ablaze, shooting and burning Hausa traders’ shops.

“It is apparent that it was a targeted attack on Hausas and other Northerners.

“The attack also spread to the Lagos-Ojo Expressway, which is not far from the market. Trailers belonging to Northerners were looted, burnt down, and the drivers slaughtered,” Malam Yako said.

He added that about 10 Hausa residents were killed in cold blood while 70 others were critically injured in the ethnic pogrom.
