Three people trapped to death as fire razed 100 shops in Kano Tomatoes market

Three people have been confirmed dead after a fire outbreak razed over 100 temporary tomato shops at Badume vegetable market in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.

Reports indicate that, fire outbreak which occurred during the weekend, started from a shop at the middle of the popular village market.

Narrating the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano state fire service, PFS Saminu Yusif Abdullahi noted that the agency received an emergency call from one Malam Tsalha.

He highlighted that, a rescue team was quickly mobilized to the scene, where three unknown persons one female and two males including an elderly man with special needs, were trapped in a shop.

“All of the three victims were rescued unconscious and later confirmed dead by doctors. They were handed over to Inspector Mukaila Inusa of Bichi police division,” he said.

He also described about 100 temporary shops were completely razed, while their team successfully quenched the fire to avoid spreading to other parts of the market.

While the cause of the incident is under investigation, Saminu Yusif charged the public to use fire and electrical appliances with care to avoid similar incidences.
