Nigerian Troops Kill Five Terrorists and Recover Arms in Borno State

In a recent counter-terrorism operation in Bama Local Government Area, Borno State, Nigerian Army troops have successfully neutralized five terrorists. The operation, carried out on August 12, 2024, also led to the recovery of significant military equipment, including bombs, a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG), and six motorcycles.

The Army’s statement, posted on X.com, detailed the results of the raid on an Islamic West Africa Province (ISWAP) enclave. In addition to the destruction of terrorist assets, troops recovered two RPG bombs, two Dane guns, an RPG bomb charger, an AK-47 rifle magazine, 23 rounds of 7.62 x 54 mm ammunition, and assorted medications.

The operation also resulted in the surrender of 44 Boko Haram terrorists and their families to troops stationed in Bama, Dikwa, and Gwoza Local Government Areas.

In a separate operation in Plateau State, the Army apprehended notorious cattle rustler Maawuya Shuaibu, recovering 32 rustled cows from the suspect. Additionally, troops in Bayelsa State conducted raids in Korokorosie Community, arresting Donald Emason and seizing a revolver pistol and two locally fabricated guns.

In Oyo State, the Army arrested Mohammed Bello, a suspected gun runner linked to a kidnapping syndicate, and confiscated arms and ammunition.

The coordinated efforts highlight ongoing security measures aimed at curbing terrorism and related criminal activities across Nigeria.
