Fubara Commends Rivers Workers’ Resilience, Promises Justice and Protection of Rights on May Day

Port Harcourt, Rivers State – May 1, 2025 – Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has lauded the resilience and dedication of the state’s workforce in his solidarity message marking the 2025 Workers’ Day. He emphasized the crucial role of workers as the backbone of the state’s progress and a source of hope amidst ongoing political challenges, while advocating for enhanced protection of their rights and improved working conditions across all sectors.

In a statement issued in Port Harcourt by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Governor Fubara described the unwavering commitment of Rivers workers as the foundation of the state’s development and a beacon pointing towards a brighter future.

He highlighted the significance of this year’s theme, “Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate,” underscoring the urgent need to safeguard workers against increasing environmental threats and socio-political uncertainties. He stressed that prioritizing occupational safety and well-being is paramount for achieving sustainable growth.

Governor Fubara acknowledged the efforts of the Federal Government, led by President Bola Tinubu, in advancing labor reforms and promoting climate-conscious policies aimed at fostering a healthier and safer working environment nationwide.

The statement conveyed Governor Fubara’s profound gratitude to Rivers workers who, despite political turbulence and disruptions in governance, have consistently demonstrated patriotism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to their duties.
