Gov. AbdulRazaq Gifts Kwara Pilgrims ₦120 Million in Makkah, Eases Financial Burden

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has extended a generous ₦120 million support package to pilgrims from the state currently performing the Hajj in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, in a move that has drawn widespread praise and gratitude from the pilgrims.

The financial intervention, which was announced over the weekend during the governor’s visit to the holy city, is aimed at easing the economic pressures faced by the pilgrims due to rising costs associated with the pilgrimage.

According to a statement from the Kwara State Government, the funds are to be distributed directly to the pilgrims to support their welfare and logistics as they complete the spiritual rites.

“Governor AbdulRazaq’s gesture is timely, deeply appreciated, and demonstrates his compassion and commitment to the well-being of Kwarans — even while they are away from home,” the statement said.

Eyewitnesses say the announcement was met with excitement and prayers from the pilgrims, many of whom had been concerned about high exchange rates and the cost of living in the Kingdom.

Speaking during the visit, AbdulRazaq urged the pilgrims to continue praying for peace, unity, and progress in Kwara and Nigeria at large. He also reassured them of his administration’s continued investment in religious and social welfare.

“This is a journey of faith, and it is our responsibility to ensure our people are supported, wherever they are,” he said.

The gesture comes amid broader efforts by the Kwara State Government to support religious initiatives and foster community development.
