Ancelotti Reveals Real Madrid’s Decision to Pass on Victor Osimhen

Ancelotti Reveals Why Real Madrid Passed on Signing Victor Osimhen

Real Madrid’s head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has explained why the club decided not to pursue Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen. Despite being one of Europe’s top forwards and frequently linked with a move to the Spanish giants, no offer was made for Osimhen, even after Karim Benzema’s departure.

In an interview with ‘Radio Serie A,’ Ancelotti stated, “No, because I think the club thought that Benzema’s absence could be remedied by purchasing Bellingham.” This decision appears justified, as Real Madrid went on to win both the league and the Champions League last season.

Osimhen, who led Napoli to a Serie A title, remains a hot commodity in the transfer market. Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United are interested, as are French champions PSG, especially following Kylian Mbappe’s move to Madrid.

The 25-year-old forward is set to begin preseason training with Napoli, but his future with the club remains uncertain ahead of the 2024/25 Serie A season starting in August.
